Cara Milwidsky

Cara is passionate about supporting young people learn to cope with challenges and lead meaningful lives. Cara has a collaborative approach to treatment and assessment, which includes working closely with parents and schools to support the unique needs of each young person she works with. She is a compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental practitioner who is able to connect well to children and adolescents of all ages.

Cara uses a combination of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to best meet her clients’ needs and goals. Her treatment approaches include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-based Therapies and Play/Art Therapy. She is also a registered Circle of Security Parenting facilitator.

Cara takes pride in providing high quality psychometric/educational assessments using gold-standard assessment tools for a range of different presentations such as learning difficulties/disorders, ADHD and giftedness.

Cara is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist. She holds a Masters of Educational and Developmental Psychology from Monash University and a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Macquarie University. Cara is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPI).

Lana Fester

Lana is a knowledgeable and warm child and family therapist and Social Worker with 18 years of counselling and casework experience. She provides a nurturing environment for children and families to address their challenges and concerns. As well as her work at Here Psychology, Lana provides counselling to children and families at Sydney Children’s Hospital. Lana encourages humour, creativity and self-expression in her work with people of all ages. Lana has worked with many different types of families and is passionate about supporting them to connect, repair and thrive. Lana tailors her approach using evidence-based frameworks & models of practice and values each individual's identity, background and culture.

Lana collaborates closely with parents and carers and believes that working as a team to support their child is the most effective approach. Lana uses systemic and trauma-informed practices, drawing from various therapeutic approaches such as Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Practices, Play Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Lana currently has availability for new clients on Wednesdays.
